Large Mid 17th-century English Antique Bronze Mortar Dated "1649" - Bearing The Mark Of Thomas Sturton I (fl.1630-1658), Sturton Foundry, Somerset, EnglandA large and impressive mid 17th century English antique bronze mortar. Please note that no pestle is included with the sale. With a flared rim, the body with two lugs carry handles and bearing a dated of "1649" between two decorative bands. To the reverse, the initials "IF" are cast and the mark of Thomas Sturton I is scratched into the mortars surface.
